Blood drive part of sickle cell month recognition

The American Red Cross along with the Pitt County Branch of the NAACP will hold a blood drive on Sept. 16 in conjunction with National Sickle Cell Awareness Month.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Alice Keene Park Multi-Purpose Room, 4561 County Home Road, to help meet critical demand for people who suffer from sickle cell and other conditions for surgeries and emergencies, organizers said.
